5 signs to know that he doesn’t want to lose you

he doesn't want to lose you

The beginning of a relationship is always exciting. You’re feeling like you’ve found that person who has your back, who you can share all of your secrets with, and who will always be there for you. That’s why sometimes we’re too carried away and in the heat of the moment to take a minute and let the other person know what we want and expect.

But as time goes by, while things are left unclear, boundaries not set, and expectations not communicated we may find ourselves wanting or expecting things that the other person is not ready to offer. The excitement fades into something more stable, routine-based, or even boring. You know each other better now and it’s more comfortable to talk about anything with one another. However, you still don’t know for sure if your partner would mind losing you.

This is especially true if the man is reluctant to show commitment to you or to claim you publicly and officialize your relationship. Check out our article on why you should consider walking away, in a similar situation where he just won’t commit. However, for now, here are a few signs to prove that he even cares enough not to want to lose you.

5 signs that he cares and doesn’t want to lose you:

1) He cares about your feelings:

It is important that he cares about your feelings. He should be able to understand the context of any situation you’re in, or why it makes you feel some type of way. He should be able to show compassion and support, even if he can’t relate or understand why it is so serious of a situation in your eyes when he may think it’s trivial.

A man that doesn’t want to lose you, will make you feel like he’s judging you. If he does judge you, then it’s best to ask him in a kind way not to and to ask him to show more support. Especially since you’re giving him your attention, time, and energy and he needs to play his part too.

2) He is open-minded and willing to listen to your opinion:

He should be able to listen well and take in what you’re saying without interrupting you or making assumptions about what you’re saying. If he interrupts or makes assumptions about what you’re saying, then it’s best to tell him to give you a chance to explain your perspective more.

And, make him understand that not everyone thinks like him and having a different point of view than his, doesn’t make you a bad person. It just makes you a person that believes in looking at things from different angles.

Remember that communication is key! If a man gets carried away by his short temper or shows an unwillingness to listen, then it is better to address it all calmly. Make him understand that you’re not willing against him and that you two have the same goals in the end if you were clear about your expectations from the start, so listening to one another and choosing what’s best, will be the best thing to do.

3) He tries to find a middle ground, when you disagree:

It’s a good idea to try and find a middle ground when you disagree with one another. It’s not always easy, but if he makes the effort and tries it’s probably because he thinks it’s worth it. That being said, sometimes there really is no middle ground and you have to take one side or the other.

So the main point is how much he tries to find a middle ground and please you. If he is very direct about saying or implying that “it is either my way or the highway!”, you should worry.

If you’re with a man that you think is extremely stubborn and doesn’t ever find a middle ground nor meet you halfway, when making any important decision ever then it’s a red flag. This means he doesn’t care much whether you agree or not and whether you’ll pack your stuff and go if you’re not being even heard. In other words, he doesn’t care much about losing you.

A man that cares about you will go above and beyond, he will try in every way, be it a nice or mean way, to explain and justify his position to you. That’s because he wants you to stay, be onboard and be convinced that it’s right, rather than be unhappy with him or leave.

4) He always stays in touch:

He is always there for you, whether it’s in person, through texts and calls, or online. He provides encouragement, support, and motivation. He is the person that you can turn to when you need to talk about anything; personal or professional.

He always stays in touch with you and makes sure that you are doing well in life. He has helped you through some tough times and continues to be there for you today.

If all you read in this section is familiar and makes you think of that one specific person, then it is worth knowing that that person doesn’t want to lose you or see you in any difficulty.

In brief, if he always stays in touch with you to make sure that you are okay, then he is the one who will be there for you when things go wrong. He is the one who will help you overcome your obstacles and he surely doesn’t want to lose you.

On the other hand, someone who ghosts you or disappears for days or weeks on you may not care much about you or your life matters. They may re-connect for their own needs to socialize or because they want to know something about you or get something from you. In any case, there are fewer chances that they consider you a special person in their life.

5) He makes sure you get your way, and that you’re happy:

People are often reluctant to ask for what they want because they fear rejection. But the best way to get what you want is to be assertive and confident.

If you’re a transparent person that directly asks for the things, you want and you’re with someone who doesn’t want to lose you, then chances he’ll do his best to let you get your way. He makes sure you get your way because he wants to ensure that you’re happy and have a smile on your face at all times.

He’s the guy who will make sure that you get the best of everything. He’s the one who will always make sure you are being heard in a group conversation. He makes sure he serves your plate with the best thing on the table, first and before anyone else. When with others he looks at your face at times, to see your facial expressions so he can say if you need something, and if everything is going great.
