5 life goals categories to plan your life properly

life goals categories

1. Financial life goals:

If you wish to have a plan for your life, then you should start with the foundation. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it’s very hard to acquire material things, without having to pay for them.

And as much as some of us would like to live a very minimalist life, money will have to be spent either way. To take care of this aspect of your life, the best way to do it is to make a list of the most important things you want to have in your life. For many people, this could be a house or a car, for other people it could be setting enough money aside to continue their studies or even travel the world.

Either way, you need to put all those financial needs on paper, make research to know in what price range they would fall, and set a plan to be able to afford each.

After doing that, you now know exactly how much money you need to save, and even if you need to get a second job to speed up the process then you will. In the end, you will have a clear vision of what you need to do to obtain each thing and reach your financial life goals.

If you’re making a financial plan for your life, you should probably consider that you’ll want to have financial stability at some point in your life. To do that, you need to pay off as much debt as possible and increase your income. After that, you could also revise your list of things you still need to see if it’s possible to acquire them sooner.

2. Romantic life goals:

For many of us, one of our life goals is to find our other half and live happily ever after. This is completely possible if you indeed want it. The reason why so many people are still trying to find their soulmates is that they put other life goals first, like their careers or education. Trying to focus on your career when you are in a relationship can be tricky, and many couples separate because of that.

When you reach a stage in your career when you are happy and have peace of mind when it comes to your finances, you start wanting to share the nice moments of life with a special someone. So, if you put another life goals category first or before this one, then it is okay as long as you don’t mind being lonely in the meanwhile.

What you need to realize is, as perfect as a relationship can be, it always requires active work. Love is not all that is needed for a relationship to work. You need to have your life goals aligned and be ready to make sacrifices for each other. You also need to agree, at some point in your relationship, at what age you want to get married or start a family.

3. Fitness-related:

Being in control of our appearance can be a boost to our confidence, and for many people, that revolves around being within a specific weight range. Some people have struggled to lose weight all their life and that hindered their performance in other life goals categories or in their everyday routines.

You need to have a healthy relationship with your body and with food. However, wanting to maintain or decrease your weight to be healthier and healthily appreciate your figure can also improve your life greatly.

You can do this with the help of a professional, like a nutritionist or a personal trainer, who will assess the state your body is in and give you personalized diets and workouts. This way you should be able to follow an easy path to staying in shape and having your fitness life goals reached while working on your other life goals categories and without feeling that you are sacrificing too much.

It’s all about changing your lifestyle with an improved diet and incorporating exercise that you enjoy. This will help you maintain your ideal weight once you reach it, instead of accumulating crash diets and bad experiences.

4. Parenting goals:

If you are in a serious relationship and you haven’t talked about whether you want to have children or not, do it now. Maybe you’ve always wanted children, but that’s not the case for your partner. If they believe that they will never change their mind about this, the next step is figuring out if having children is something you want to abdicate or not.

If before being in a relationship, you’ve already made up your mind about how many kids you want to have or you find yourself thinking about what type of parent you’ll be, then you shouldn’t delay this conversation once you find a partner.

To have kids is a big responsibility and duty, it’s not something that just happens and that will take care of itself. To have and raise kids the right way, one should dedicate their life to being a good responsible parent and putting their child or children first. If you feel this is not something you can do or that you can barely balance your other life goals categories then it is better to avoid having children.

As we mentioned on this website many times before: “Every child deserves a good parent, but not every parent deserves a child”. This is to say that there can be bad parents or ones that were simply not ready, and that’s okay as long as they don’t bring into the world little children that they are going to neglect or scare mentally with bad treatment.

5. Health goals:

Feeling healthy is something that we often disregard, but it could improve the way we live our life. If you’ve realized that you don’t have many healthy habits in your life, start thinking about what things you could improve.

Sometimes, eating more fruit, sleeping two more hours, and taking a walk in the park three times per week are enough to make us feel energized.

Being healthy isn’t just for vanity purposes. It helps our body perform our everyday tasks effortlessly and improves our mental health. If you’re struggling with your mental health, maybe analyze the way you live your life and root out the bad habits that could be dragging you down.
