What to do if a guy keeps asking what you’re doing?

It can be really annoying when a guy keeps texting you and asking what you’re up to. Especially if he’s someone you’re not interested in.

It’s like, dude, I regret that you have my number, why are you constantly texting me and asking me what I’m doing? What’s worse is that he might not even have your number and just be giving you a headache through social media messages.

So what can you do when you find yourself having to reply “nothing” 200 times a day to the same guy? Or, when you find yourself having to invent something original just not to sound boring and dead? How about you just get rid of his repetitive questions, without fully telling him off, looking completely uninterested, or being rude?

What to do when a guy keeps asking what you are doing?

1- Figure out his intentions:

The first thing to do in this situation is to first figure out this guy’s intentions. Is he interested in you? Is he asking what you’re doing to be able to find the right time to ask you on a date? Does he want to see what your daily schedule is like for a chance to run into you or maybe stalk you if he’s a little too obsessed and mentally deranged?

So before you do anything you have to first figure out what this guy’s motive behind asking you so much about what you’re up to. Maybe he just wants to see if you’ll ever mention meeting or doing something with a boyfriend which will let him know you’re not available.

But, in that case, why not just strike up a conversation instead of asking what you do and then ask you directly if you’re taken? Well, most guys are too shy to be too direct. So make sure you figure out what his intentions are properly and make sure you don’t jump to conclusions either.

2- Let him know you’re busy or unavailable:

Keep in mind, that a guy that keeps asking what you’re up to is probably just trying to be friendly. And, maybe he doesn’t realize that he’s being a little bit too pushy.

So, in that case, it would be polite to let him know that you’re not interested or that you’re too busy. Hopefully, he’ll get the hint and stop texting you the same question so many times as it can drive you insane.

In fact, it can be very frustrating when a guy not only keeps asking you what you’re doing but you don’t even know how to dodge the question more than twice. Again, you may kindly let him know that you cannot always answer in time, but like after a couple of days of having received his text. He may not be intentionally trying to be annoying, but it can come across that way.

If you’re not interested in him, you can try politely deflecting his questions or changing the subject, or simply leaving his “on read”. However, if you are interested in him, you may want to try engaging in conversation with him. This will give him a chance to get to know you better and hopefully realize that constantly asking what you’re doing is not the best way to endear himself to you.

3- Let him know you’re more fond of meaningful or deeper talks:

If a guy keeps asking you what you’re doing, it can be a little frustrating. You may feel like you’re being interrogated, or like he’s not really interested in getting to know you as he is not using his chance to talk to you in a smart way. However, if you’re interested in the guy, it’s important to let him know that you prefer meaningful conversations in the kindest possible way.

This will help him understand that you’re not just looking for a casual hookup and that he’ll need to put in more effort if he wants to pursue a relationship with you. You can check this article out later for deeper questions you two can ask one another to develop a more meaningful bond and get to know one another more.

In addition, if you’re not interested in the guy, it’s important, to be honest, and let him know that you’re not interested in dating right now. Otherwise, you may give him false hope or even end up unintentionally leading him on, if you keep replying to his question for seeks.

He might imagine that there could be something more between you two when there isn’t. So communicate your preferences clearly to avoid any confusion or frustration down the line.

4- Consider if you want to ghost him:

If a guy keeps asking you what you’re doing, it might be time to consider ghosting him and acting as if he doesn’t exist. If he’s constantly texting or messaging you asking for your whereabouts, it can become irritating and intrusive.

If you don’t want to deal with him anymore, simply stop responding to his messages, and eventually, he’ll get the hint. Of course, this isn’t the most considerate way to end things but sometimes it’s necessary in order to get rid of someone who won’t take “no” for an answer. You can check this article out on ghosting and see how confusing it can be before you decide to do it to someone.

So if a guy keeps asking you what you’re doing, it might be time to consider giving him the silent treatment.
